Dooms day (Body Art Awards) happened. Maz woke up late because she was up till about 4am working on stuff for the competition. This also meant that she was late at starting, rather than starting at 8am she didn't start painting till 9amish.
It was a super long day and at 2pm Maz wasn't sure if she would finish in time. The judges thought that Maz's piece was beautifully painted and they could see the amount of detail in the piece. Chris did a fantastic job on stage, jumping and cartwheeling...he was brilliant. Maz was also told by Gino (from Weta) that her work has really improved over the years...that was probably the highlight of Maz's day.
Maz had a few tickets for the competition, so JayJay & Sandro came to watch and scream for Maz & Sam's work.
Sadly (and she isn't surprised) Maz didn't place at the awards. Carmel was the winner of hand painted and Kelly Ren was the Surpreme Award winner (she won Best Novice last year). Photos of the day can be found below.
Maz really wants to re-paint the horimono on Chris and take some photos of his leaping in the air etc with the weapon.
Next years theme for the Body Art Awards is Bollywood. Oh dear lord save us...how narrow is that?!?!?
After the body art awards Maz, Russell, Chris, Dee and Sam headed off to Ginger Minx and met up with Hez, Tina, Dave and Sarah. We would of been there much sooner, but Dee's car broke down at Onewa Road. So Sandro (Chris's partner) came and saved Chris & Maz. Dee & Sam (after parking the car in a side street) got a ride with Russell.
