Day FiftySeven of being Aflickionless...

The halfway point looms ever closer! Only a few days to go before you hit it...I wonder how quickly time will go after halfway.

Maz had another productive day, this time making Doughnut pendants. YUM!!! (doughnuts not really eatable) and tonight she is going to pop into Ginger Minx with Tina & Russell. Should be good.

Tomorrow night Maz is body painting JayJay for Kinky Slinky. Exciting stuff, especially since Maz is going to try out a few new things. And don't worry there will be photos (possibly before anybody else sees).

Nearly 400 jobs at New Zealand Post Group have fallen victim to the recession. Acting group chief executive Sam Knowles said there had been 237 redundancies in the first half of this year, 86 jobs were lost through attrition, and 61 fixed term contracts not renewed. Not all the news was bad, with 90 new jobs created.

Police have arrested a male cross-dresser after two bank robberies in Manawatu. The man and a woman were stopped in a car by police in central Palmerston North soon after a Kiwibank was robbed about noon yesterday. The man, wearing a skirt and high-heeled boots, made off with about $800, police said.

Organisers of the annual Starlight Symphony concert in Auckland may have been thrown a lifeline. The concert, one of the city's most popular events, faces being axed after its major sponsor, SkyCity, announced it was pulling out. But sponsorship broker Murray Stott - managing director of Database Publishing - told the Herald he was willing to step in to help save the event.

All New Zealanders can get a free flu jab as the Ministry of Health moves to ease pressure on struggling medical centres and hospitals. Eligibility for a free seasonal influenza vaccine has been extended to all New Zealanders, not just those with underlying health problems. It is available from general practices from now until the end of September. The vaccine would not protect individuals from swine flu.

It has been touted as a successful treatment for everything from insomnia and depression to Parkinson's disease and multiple sclerosis. Should marijuana be legal in NZ on prescription only? (yes the debate is back on)
