Day SixtySix of being Aflickionless...

After not rolling in the door till about 4.30am Maz never got to bed till almost 5.30am. So she slept all day...well till around 2pm.

Hell must of froze over this morning because Tina, Matt and the kids went to church. WTF? They never go to church, but somehow they were talked into go by Matt's dad.

Other than that nothing much to report on today.

With swine flu cases soaring in New Zealand and schools resuming tomorrow, health officials are advising teachers and students to stay home if they are sick. In New Zealand there are now 2255 confirmed cases of swine flu (Influenza A H1N1) and the virus has led to the deaths of 10 people.

A man who was fatally hit by a car outside a hospital emergency department lay injured for nearly 24 minutes before an ambulance transported him inside. Ross Stuart Andrew, 54, was hit outside Waitakere Hospital in Henderson, West Auckland, just before 8.15am on July 9. He died in North Shore Hospital two days later. Police said Andrew was walking across the hospital's access road when he was hit by a car turning into the site. A witness called 111 and an ambulance was dispatched from central Auckland.

Celebrated Kiwi painter Frances Hodgkins has joined Beethoven, Hemingway and Rembrandt - by having a crater on Mercury named after her. The Hodgkins crater is among 16 discovered by Nasa's Messenger spacecraft last October. All such landforms on the closest planet to the sun are named after dead artists, authors and musicians. The names are suggested by members of the Messenger team, the public and the International Astronomical Union.

A Kiwi flight attendant has been at the centre of an internet controversy while competing for a spot on the New York Knicks cheerleading squad. Melissa Rodriguez, 27, auditioned to become the 18th member of the Knicks City Dancers and made it to the final two. Fans were then asked to vote for their favourite. The winner is due to be announced by the end of tomorrow. However organisers wiped all the votes for both contestants after allegations were made that Rodriguez was cheating, according to a fan site run by her brother. She was alleged to have told people how to set up an automatic vote for her on the site.

The long-lost love who stole Hank Hartel's heart has been found. The 69-year-old Australian was searching for New Zealander Jan Grace, whom he met on a ship from England in 1965.
Hank was thrilled to learn Jan contacted the Herald on Sunday after his story appeared last week. "It's beautiful," he said. "It'll be nice just to be able to send her an email." Jan, who has been happily married for 40 years and has two adult children and four grandchildren, said she remembered Hartel well. "A lovely, sincere, handsome young man with a good sense of humour,"she said. "We shared a lot of fun and good times until he left the ship in Melbourne to start his new life in Australia."

Day SixtyFive of being Aflickionless...

This is being written on Sunday evening as we weren't around last night.

Russell worked at Ginger Minx (Yay), so Maz spent the night hanging out there. There was an All Blacks game on at Eden Park, so it was a whole different crowd to normal...lots of rugby heads. And you know what time we rolled in the door from there.
Maz was highly productive while there though, worked on her concept designs (shading & drawing the designs for the arms) and got a shoe order. YAY!

Tonight also marked 4months open for Ginger Minx!!!

Uber-cool New York band MGMT will DJ a fundraising night in Auckland for recovering Kiwi musician Chris Knox. The 56-year-old, known as the godfather of left-field New Zealand rock, had a major stroke last month and was admitted to Auckland City Hospital. He was discharged about two weeks ago and has since been undergoing speech therapy and work on relearning motor skills.

Day SixtyThree of being Aflickionless...

Maz has been a busy beaver today. She had an interview for the North Shore Times this afternoon, had a wardrobe fitting for Legend of the Seeker, then it was off to look at washing machines (Tina's one is broken) and then FINALLY at long last it was back home to start working on stuff for the Body Art Awards. 9 days to go now and she is still laxed about the whole thing.

JayJay had a customer today called No Moon Soon. For real and that spelling isn't made up either. She has also been served at the post office all week by the same person, Cartia, like the asprin tablet. What's with the weird names?
JayJay also had somebody ask her if she got a new tattoo and what it meant, because of the placement of the JadedSphnix logo on her Facebook profile picture.

Lots happening in the news today so lets get to it...

Officials are today checking for damage after a huge earthquake rocked parts of the South Island last night. People ran from restaurants in Queenstown as buildings shook and lights went out. Phone lines went down as people overloaded the lines. GNS recorded the quake as 7.8 magnitude at 9.22pm followed 20 minutes later by a 6.1 magnitude. The quake was followed by violent aftershocks felt as far north as Wellington. GNS seismologist Bill Fry said the aftershocks would last for the next few weeks.

The effects of the 7.8 earthquake and aftershocks that struck Fiordland last night were felt as far away as Australia. The quake, which was centred 100km northwest of Tuatapere and 12km deep, struck at 9.22pm and triggered an alert from the Pacific tsunami warning centre in Hawaii. In Sydney, a performance at Bondi Pavilion was cancelled and the theatregoers were evacuated, while other Sydney residents were warned to keep away from the water's edge. However, there was only a small surge of water, about 17cm high, and the tsunami warning was cancelled after its size was confirmed on arrival at Bluff at about 10.30pm.

A 10th person has died of swine flu, the Ministry of Health says. The latest death was a Gisborne man in his 40s with serious underlying medical conditions. (seems that everybody who has died from swine flu in NZ have all had underlying medical conditions)

A sharp-eyed prison officer foiled an attempt to have cannabis delivered to an inmate at Tongariro/Rangipo prison on the weekend. "One of our guys was on his way into work when he spotted what looked like a tupperware container tucked into the grass by the prison entrance," acting assistant regional manager Diane Brophy said. "The way the container was placed aroused suspicion so the Corrections officer stopped to investigate further. "Inside he found approximately an ounce of cannabis leaf - enough for several tinnies and considered a valuable commodity by some prisoners." While there was no indication of who the drugs were for it was likely somebody planted it for a prisoner on an outside work party to pick up later, Ms Brophy said.

A Queenstown schoolboy is facing possible suspension after creating an "abusive and derogatory" online quiz about his teachers on the social networking website Facebook. The quiz, littered with profanities, referred to one teacher as a drug user, while others were described as circus freaks, The Southland Times reported. The 15-year-old invited friends to compare themselves to staff members at Wakatipu High School by answering five questions.

A New Zealand man spent a "wretched" night in a Fiji prison cell after frightened residents and police raided his Freemasons meeting, suspecting witchcraft and sorcery. The man, who didn't want to be named, blamed "dopey village people" for the raid in which 14 members of the Freemasons Lodge of Lautoka were herded into police cars and jailed for the night. Police also seized lodge paraphernalia, including wands, compasses and a skull.

A confused hubby didn't get it, until his wife pointed out he had not only fenced in the dog, but the family boat and trailer as well. Nice one, Dave."

New Zealand actor Sam Neill has been fronting a pro-meat television ad saying red meat is a vital contributor to brain health and featuring lines such as, "Meat - you'd be silly not to eat it". This has angered Jason Baker, director of PETA Asia-Pacific, an animal ethics group, who sent him a letter suggesting alternatives, such as, "Meat: it's what's rotting in your colon". In a letter to Neill he says: "Seeing you pimp for an industry that is linked to the main killers of human beings as well as of animals is, well, sad ... Human beings don't have to die of meat-related causes, such as cancer of the bowel and colon, and hardened arteries."

Maz was up at the crack of dawn (not even dawn) to boot Russell out of bed to drop Matt off at work. Took photos of Biccie & Doughnut pendants, they are now available to buy...YAY!!!

TVNZ has apologised for a swear word being repeatedly broadcast on One News last night. The F word featured in court footage from the Clayton Weatherston murder trial in Christchurch.

A man who watched his bus burn in front of him is unimpressed the fire communications centre did not know where Southland was. Greg Sayers was outside his family's partly converted small bus in Edendale, 39km northeast of Invercargill, when he noticed it was on fire and called 111, the Southland Times reported. The operator put him through to fire communications, but told him no one was answering, Mr Sayers said. The operator then tried a different number, but the new operator was unsure of where he was in the country, he said. "I said Edendale and she said 'where's that?' and I said Southland and she said 'where's that?"'Police have confirmed that as part of a review of equipment used by frontline officers some speed radars will be taken out of patrol cars and not all will necessarily be replaced. Frontline officers say they had been advised 400 Stalker detection units, which are leased, are to be removed from police vehicles as part of efforts to cut $21 million from the police operating budget. There are 1000 Stalker units in patrol cars around the country. Officers said they feared many speeding motorists would now escape without penalty.

Maz was meant to get some clear nail polish tonight, but ended up with two new t-shirts, two pairs of heels and a New Moon poster (as well as nail polish), she thinks she might have a wee problem.
In more productive news, Maz finished the cookie & doughnut pendants today and has also going to be getting interviewed for the North Shore Times about body art. Awesome huh?

An Auckland Prison visitor has been arrested after trying to smuggle in drugs and a cellphone in his shoes. The man was visiting the prison with a woman yesterday when a search revealed the contraband, prison manager Kelly Puohotaua said. "On the female visitor we found a cellphone, brand new, that she had no idea how to use ," he said. "The male visitor was picked up by the metal detector on his way to being searched, indicating an object possibly concealed in his shoes. "Staff began the rub down search and could strongly smell glue. The inner sole and outer heel of each of his shoes had been removed and cannabis and a cellphone packed inside them, before they were glued back together." The man was detained by staff until police arrived, arresting him and cautioning the woman.

Healthcare lobbyists have criticised the Government's funding cuts in the face of a report showing New Zealand is the third fattest nation in the developed world. They fear disease and complications caused by obesity will lead to higher healthcare costs in the future. The Health Care Data 2009 report, by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development, focused on 30 nations. Of those that reported on weight issues, all showed they were getting fatter. The obesity rate among adults in New Zealand in 2007 was 26.5 per cent. This compared with figures reported the previous year by the United States at 34.3 per cent and Mexico at 30 per cent.

Giving Maori title over the seabed and foreshore could result in charges for commercial recreational activities, such as surfing or surfcasting competitions, says a controversial legal academic. Television and film producer John Barnett supports the concept of a super city but doesn't want the film industry to be its first casualty. It has been won by the consortium 'V Formation, made up of Fletcher Construction, Beca Engineering, Higgins Contractors and Australian consultancy Parsons and Brinckerhoff. Bewildered passengers found the platforms unusually green and springy at Britomart Station in Auckland yesterday, after the concrete floor was temporarily transformed into a "meadow". A milk company spent all night laying 1250sq m of grass - ready to greet the first train of travellers that arrived just after 7am. The station remained open throughout the day of filming for eight Meadow Fresh commercials. One train driver spent all day driving in and out of the station amid the actors, buttercups, bushes and grass needed for the advertisements. Northcote Intermediate students will be next to walk on the grass. It will be laid between new classrooms being built at the school.

A 50-year-old Mt Maunganui woman died after lying for hours in a roadside ditch between Tauranga and Te Maunga during heavy rain early yesterday. The woman was a passenger in a car travelling along State Highway 2 towards Te Maunga - or 'The Mount' - when about one kilometre past the Maungatapu bridge from Tauranga she asked to make a toilet stop. She got out, climbed over the metal crash barrier on the roadside and is thought to have fallen, ending up lying in the ditch. It is believed she had been drinking.

Great service from a so-called reputable car yard. Mother bought a new Suzuki Swift, but not from Moyes."

About 200 pre-teens in London were given pedometers to count how many steps they walked, as part of a study into obesity. The study required 11- and 12-year-olds to clip a pedometer to their waists, with researchers at the Mile End Centre for Sports and Exercise Medicine collecting the readings by satellite. Researchers were surprised by the activity levels recorded in some obese children; further investigation revealed some had attached their pedometer to their family pets.

A New Zealand taekwondo athlete has opened a brothel to help fund his bid to compete at the 2012 London Olympics, local media reported Sunday. Logan Campbell, 23, told the Sunday Star-Times newspaper he hoped his Auckland "gentleman's club," which provided escort services, would help him raise about $300,000 toward his London Games campaign.

A morbidly obese man so big he had to be cut out of his home for hospital treatment could have been lying there for days. Eight firefighters and three ambulance officers were called on to get the man, who is believed to be in his 50s, out of the second storey of his Rotorua home. The team lowered the man - estimated by one firefighter to weigh 400kg - to the ground with a forklift after cutting a hole in the wall. They manoeuvred him to the forklift by dragging him across the ground on a sheet. "We got him on to the back of a truck, which a member of the public kindly offered to drive, because he wouldn't fit in the ambulance," said firefighter Derryn Davidson. Senior Station Officer Jim Prescott said the man could have been lying on the ground for days after falling and being unable to get up or help himself. Because he had made his home in a workshop in an industrial area, it was likely no one knew he was there.

A Maori cloak and a diamond-studded silver fern are among some of the Queen's most treasured gifts to be displayed in London this month.

The Queen and Commonwealth: The Royal Tour exhibition will run in Buckingham Palace from July 26 to September 30, displaying gifts given to the Queen on her various trips around the world. They include a cloak presented to her by Maori chiefs in 1953 when she visited Arawa Park in Rotorua. The Queen was invested as a Maori chieftain and given the brown kiwi-feather cloak as well as a korowai - a flax cape covered in tassles. A diamond-studded fern brooch gifted to her by the Women of Auckland group on Christmas Day 1953 will also be displayed, as will the intricately patterned dress she wore for the state opening of Parliament on a 1963 visit to New Zealand. Other gifts from the Pacific in the exhibition will include traditional handheld fans from Tuvalu, a Fijian whale tooth necklace and an Aboriginal carving from Australia.

It is Australia's national gemstone, mined in the deserts of the Outback and prized worldwide for its brilliant plays of light and colour. But the opal industry is struggling, with the market flooded with synthetic stones and demand plunging thanks to the global recession. The situation is so dire that the world's only tertiary-level course in opal cutting, in the South Australian mining town of Coober Pedy, has just been scrapped. Stuart Jackson, who founded the course 20 years ago, said yesterday: "Opal is a luxury item and times are tough. You can't eat it, you don't need it, so people aren't buying it." Coober Pedy calls itself the "Opal Capital of the World", but even there, shops in the dusty main street are selling synthetic stones, made from plastic and silica and imported into Australia, mainly from Japan.

U2 and Bono's long-held commitment to "save the planet" has been questioned after it emerged they have a combined carbon footprint big enough to fly the band the distance from the Earth to Mars. The Irish rockers have campaigned to fight poverty and Aids in Africa and Bono called on the world's population to take better care of their planet. Speaking in Tokyo last year he said: "My prayer is that we become better in looking after our planet." However, according to an environmentalists' website, the band's 100-date 18-month world tour will see the multi-millionaires clock up 70,000 air miles (113,000km) in their private jet.

An empty billboard is an ugly thing in a recession and a tempting canvas for taggers, but a group of street artists from Cut Collective have come up with a great idea to brighten up unbooked billboard space. Together with billboard company OGGI, the Cut Collective will add its street art on empty billboard spaces around Auckland. The first artwork, measuring a massive 6m x 3m, will be auctioned on Trade Me, with the proceeds going to Kenzies Gift, a charity supporting families of children with cancer. Come on, corporate Auckland with large dull foyers, dig deep!

Day FiftyFive of being Aflickionless...

(Adam) Freeland...check that shit out!!! Click here!!! So hawt today.
now there is a reason behind knowing about Freeland, PEREZ! But anywho
apparently Black Eyed Peas have stolen a sample of the song "Mancry" by Freeland. According to reports, B.E.P. member and producer Will.I.Am was at an event last year where Freeland performed this song in question. The B.E.P "version" is called "Party All The Time" and is to be on their new album The E.N.D. We will have to see what happens.

Let's see...Maz was up at the crack of dawn (it wasn't even dawn, it was still dark outside) to watch the Michael Jackson Memorial on TV, and she was surprised that it wasn't the circus that she was expecting it would be. It was like a normal funeral service, but with a few thousand more people. Beautifully done.
Maz has finished all of her designing now (both NZ Body Art and Style Pasifika are down). This afternoon she went and picked up the fabric needed (SPOTLIGHT)...one of the fabrics was $26.99 per meter, Maz is rather shocked that she paid it and all up spent close to $80 on fabric for what is basicially a skirt. While in Spotlight though Maz found these things called Face Paint Sticks...and began to think. They are basicially like a crayon but paint. Could possibly make life a lot easier and very interesting. Bring on the competition!!!

Nine Wellington bus drivers have been sacked for allegedly stealing thousands of dollars in fares, but they won't face charges if they repay the money, bus company Go Wellington says. The drivers were fired over the past three months for stealing at least $20,000 between May and June, the Dominion Post reported.

More New Zealanders are cutting their spending because of the recession but the dollars they do spend are going on food, fashion and fun, a survey shows.

The cost of living in Auckland is cheap compared with major cities measured in a global survey. Out of the 143 cities measured by consultancy firm Mercer, Auckland placed 138th, down from 78th in 2008. Mercer's 2009 Worldwide Cost of Living survey compares the cost of housing, transport, food and other goods, and is used an indicator for compensation for companies who send their employees abroad.

Day FiftyFour of being Aflickionless...

Let's see...hmmm...Tina went and signed up for Fresh Talent today (same agent that Maz & Dee are with). Now I realise that you haven't met Tina yet, but I'm sure you will at some point.
When Maz & Tina went to the supermarket they were being dicks while waiting in the line...Maz was doing the "You know you want me" dance, but what Tina didn't tell her is that the lady infront of them was looking at Maz like she was on crack or something. Then while being served the checkout girl was looking at Maz & Tina like they were a couple and smiling to herself. Was a classic moment.

Topics of this evening: flaps, tits and ass!!!

And lookie, lookie what Maz got off TradeMe this evening. Hopefully she will have it very, very soon...and no the blonde doesn't come with it

JayJay called in sick to work today, which means that JayJay's mum thinks she must be dying and should move home for a week. I think she might have the swine...haha...or maybe its the crack *gasp*.

A young woman was groped by a flasher while walking to a city backpackers in Christchurch last night, police say. The 20-year-old woman was walking down Gloucester Street between Stanmore Road and Fitzgerald Ave about 10pm when she noticed a man outside a property near where she was headed. As she passed him, he undid the zip on his pants and exposed himself, before groping her from behind as she tried to open the backpackers' door. He ran off when she screamed. Three of Auckland Zoo's Bornean orang utans are moving to a Florida zoo this month, where they will take part in their captive breeding programme. A public day to farewell the orang utans will be held at the zoo on 19 July.

Reverend Al Sharpton is using his Sunday appearance at The First A.M.E. Church in South Los Angeles to call for a U.S. Postage stamp honoring Michael Jackson, as well as national day of mourning. Sharpton faces a steep challenge in getting the stamp approved, as commemorative stamps cannot even be considered until 5 years after the subject's death, according to the U.S. Postal Service. The only exception to the rule is for deceased U.S. Presidents, who have traditionally been honored with a stamp released on their birthdays, following date of death. (so maybe little boys will be able to lick him even after death)

Little people are calling on the Federal Communications Commission to ban the use of the word "midget" on broadcast TV. The group Little People of America said Sunday the word is just as offensive as racial slurs. The request was prompted by an April episode of NBC's Celebrity Apprentice that the group said was demeaning. In the episode, contestants created a detergent ad called "Jesse James and the Midgets." The contestants, including Joan Rivers, suggested bathing little people in the detergent and hanging them to dry.

Maz spent the day on the set of Spartacus today, being bloody, wet, dirty and cold. It rainned inside even. Other than that very much in her own world.

The man at the centre of a three hour-long stand-off with police in Hamilton this morning has given himself up after police flew an officer from Auckland, armed with a taser. Acting Hamilton Area Commander Karen Henrikson said because Hamilton officers have not been issued with tasers, police officers were flown to Hamilton in the police helicopter from Auckland. Once the tasers were pointed at the man, he gave himself up.

A global "mega-colony" of Argentine ants is spreading through New Zealand, with evidence the pests are forming inter-nest alliances to dominate native species. The ants, which have invaded all continents except Antarctica thanks to human movements, are so closely related that nests refuse to attack each other, co-operating instead to overrun native species. Infestations of the 3mm, honey-brown pests were first reported in New Zealand in 1990. Now researchers say colonies from Northland to Christchurch come from such a small genetic pool that they treat each other as long-lost relatives.

Day FiftyTwo of being Aflickionless...

After the bank card phail last night Maz had to go into the bank this morning to get out cash and replace her bank card. She was totally surprised that they could replace it right then, rather than waiting, so that was super awesome.
After the trip to the bank Maz & Russell went up to In Hair to see Sally & Gene. They were doing
head shaves in support of Dylan Ward to raise money for the cancer socity. Dylan has recently been diagnosed with Leukemia, his sister has started up a fanbook page too. Check it out here.
On the spur of the moment Maz decided that Russell was to shave his head...and that he did, thanks to Gene. So the goldy locks have gone, no more looking like a chick from behind now...haha.

Maz was also working on set as an extra today. She played a hooker...haha...was working hard for her money. No surprise it wasn't hard for her to dress like one. Red & Black lace
dress, black coat, knee high boots, hoop earrings and some red lippy.
Oh yeah and the advert that Maz worked on the other week (for 2Degrees) and its up on YouTube, so check it out (Maz hasn't spoted herself in the crowd yet). Spartacus tomorrow (5.30am start).

JayJay's photos STILL aren't up. Hopefully they will be soon, it's been a week now (well just over).

Oh interesting video Maz found today. It's about the animatronics for the
Hall of Presidents at Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World Resort. Quite amazing how life like they look.

New Zealand Michael Jackson fans in three of the main centres have gathered to remember the king of pop. The memorial services were held yesterday in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch. Organiser Rose Van Wylich says New Zealanders needed a place to say goodbye. She says living so far away from Los Angeles, it was important people could gather together to support one another.

Some eastern areas of the South Island are experiencing heavy snowfall. Gerard Barry from MetService says around 15-20 centimetres of snow is forecast for the Canterbury foothills and south of the Rakaia River this morning. The Mt Hutt ski field has had to close for the day after around 20 centimetres of snowfall overnight and it is still snowing hard, with the access road closed because of the risk of avalanche. Mr Barry says snowfall is expected to continue until around midday.

Most people would shudder at the thought of seeing photos of their mother in lacy underwear and suspenders. Not Auckland student Michael - who twice tried to auction such saucy shots on Trade Me. The first time was to annoy his mother Jennifer after an argument. Her instruction to clear out the garage and sell unwanted items on Trade Me backfired when Michael started an auction titled "5 naked photos of my mum".It was removed by Trade Me the day after, but the 18-year-old posted a second series of "glamour photos" last Sunday - with Jennifer's approval. Although she was wearing more clothing, one was an underwear shot. The auction had more than 11,000 views before Trade Me removed it on Friday.

Twenty homes and a hospital were damaged when a tornado ripped through the Far North yesterday afternoon. Residents were evacuated as the twister made landfall at Ninety Mile Beach and left a trail of destruction as it headed south east through Kaitaia.

Next time you're enjoying a classic Kiwi dinner of fish and chips, think twice about what you're eating. New rules allow the import of frozen fillets of Vietnamese catfish or basa, a super-cheap species farmed in the polluted Mekong Delta. The move has raised concerns about health and the impact on the New Zealand fishing industry, and renewed debate on the need for compulsory country-of-origin labelling on food.

A Hamilton teenager with swine flu died at home without being diagnosed with the illness. He was one three New Zealanders to have died in the past week with swine flu more than likely to have been the cause, the Ministry of Health confirmed today. Day FiftyOne of being Aflickionless...

Hmmmm Cirque du Soleil is back in town and the school holidays have come around again. Okay is it just me or does it seem like they are always on holiday?

Maz is off to see Transformers tonight (will either update after the movie, or it will be in tomorrows blog). UPDATED: Okay so Maz WAS meant to go see Transformers tonight, BUT after getting there and putting in the order her card decided it wouldn't read. Even tried the ATM and it wouldn't read...FUCKIN RAAAA!!! Russell had her card in his jacket, so Maz is thinking his keys scratched it to fuck (even though they were in the pocket infront). So now she has to manually withdraw money till she gets her new card.

New Zealand appears to have had its first swine flu deaths following confirmation today that three people who have died in the past week had the virus.

A couple of infrequent visitors to New Zealand waters were spotted off Auckland's Milford Beach this week. Steve Barham photographed this southern right whale (Eubalaena australis) and her calf on their way to Whangaparaoa.

Massey University marine ecology lecturer Karen Stockin told the Weekend Herald the whales - considered an endangered species in New Zealand waters - were probably spending time in warmer, safer, coastal waters before the youngster made his first journey to sub-Antarctic feeding grounds. When fully grown, it could measure up to 18m and tip the scales at 117 tonnes. The calf could live up to 70 years.

Day Fifty of being Aflickionless...

Where to start for today's blog...oh I KNOW!!!

69 DAYS TO GO!!!
"69 days till Haydn gets back, 69 days till he returns, wake up one day and fuck around, 68 days till Haydn returns"

Now that is out of the way...on with the blog. FIRST for the masses ("masses" being eveybody but Haydn), time to get in the loop and find out about some more music that you may not know.
Today we would like to introduce you to GoldieRocks. That's Sam Hall; DJ, presenter and party planner du-jour. Now most renowned for her energised DJ appearances, invading parties and aftershows all over the land - at some point in time, Sam's probably hijacked your fave indie/electro haunt. But she's much more than London's latest party-person, skilled DJing aside, Goldierocks is also growing her reputation as a respected producer, remixer, presenter and music journalist…just some of the highlights are outlined below.
In my opinion, BLOODY FANTASTIC. Goldierocks truely does ROCK! You need to check them out and well thank the geeks for websites huh? Visit either the Myspace page or the official website to find out more and check out some the music.

JayJay is pissed off that her photos from National Anthems are STILL not up! Even though she re-downloaded them, .zip'ed them and re-uploaded them so that they could go up today. RAGE!!!

Maz started a new painting today, she also went out looking for that magazine at Glenfield mall but phailed, so brought herself a new beanie (YAY!) and a Wendy's Mega Choc Shake instead. She also picked up a pair of shoes for a comission. However she wasn't thinking of only herself while looking in shops...she picked up something for you too. Not quite a "hand sculpted nut sack" but it is a nut and was sculpted by somebody at some point (photo below).

She will try to find the magazine again tomorrow.
Besides shoping and painting Maz has also been working on a new JadedSphnix page, something a lot more simple, mainly because she can't be bothered with designing a new website. You can check it out here.
In other news on Sunday Maz is playing a HOOKER!!! And on Monday it's off to be almost nudie on Spartacus. FUN TIMES!

Nothing better to do on a Friday night? Stand around, kick a coke bottle and plot about the seeing if somebody will drink it. And then later on stand around and talk about nuts & jiggling them ("You better be careful Maz, If you shake the nut too hard you'll get peanut butter" - Dee, talking about the photographer nut)

Flights at Christchurch Airport have been disrupted after a communications cable was cut during development work. The incident, which happened at 8.35am, has affected check-in facilities and electronic flight information.

A transformer fire sent a shower of sparks into the air, cutting power to 77 North Shore homes overnight. Eyewitness Kevin Hind said the noise "sounded a bit like thunder". The incident looked like a fireworks display, said Mr Hind. "Sparks were flying as high as the power pole."
Three appliances manned by 12 firefighters arrived at the Killarney Ave, Torbay, scene after receiving a callout at 7.20pm yesterday.

Thousands of Air New Zealand passengers are this week getting their flight safety instructions from staff wearing nothing but body paint. The airline has decided to expand its use of body-painted staff from advertisements to the in-flight safety video used on 737 domestic flights.

Nelson and Marlborough were shaken by a pair of earthquakes this morning. The first was at 4.25am with a magnitude of 4.2. The second was at 5.16am and measured 4.6. Both were at a depth of 90km and centred around 40km south-west of Nelson.

If you're the kind of person who types tipsy and regrets it in the morning, Google's 'Mail Goggles', a new test-phase feature in the free Gmail service, might save you some angst. The feature requires you to solve a few easy maths problems in short order before hitting "send." If your logical thinking skills are intact, Google is betting you're sober enough to work out the repercussions of sending that screed you just drafted.

The extraordinary amount of news coverage the mainstream media has recently devoted to Twitter has led some to think the press is in love with the 3-year-old microblogging service. Twitter's constantly updating record of up-to-the-minute reaction has in some instances threatened to usurp media coverage of breaking news. It has also helped many celebrities, athletes and politicians bypass the media to get their message directly to their audience.

Popular swimming spots in lakes and rivers have high levels of bacteria that cause diarrhoea or infection, a new report shows. Of 300 popular swimming spots tested regularly by councils over the past two summers, just 58 per cent were suitable for swimming almost all of the time. The rest had too much faecal matter in the water at least 5 per cent of the time - and one spot never met the guidelines for safe swimming.

Temperatures were well below average during June, the National Institute of Water and Atmospheric Research (Niwa) climate summary says. Extremely low temperatures were recorded in the Waikato, Taumarunui, Taupo, southern Hawke's Bay, Central Otago, the Kaikoura Coast, and some alpine areas of the South Island. All other areas experienced below average temperatures and the national average temperature of 7.5degC was 0.7degC below the long-term average for June.
