Right about now Maz SHOULD BE deciding what to wear out tonight and doing her hair (well sorting everything out). But no, the blog has to be done first. Originally (okay not originally, but as far as things went last night) Maz wasn't going to National Anthems, but that's changed now and she has decided to go; especially since she enjoyed Voyager.
Tonight also means that at long last Maz & JayJay are going to see each other. It's been over a month now, so prepare for them to get their rape on.
Mardi Gras is also on this weekend and a fair few people have hopped off down the line for that.
The wake up call that Maz got from the Little Boots gig was awesome, even if it was 6.30am. What a way to start the day huh? And she is so jealous she wasn't there, although for a moment it felt like she was, bopping along to the music in bed...haha!
How awesome was it? It sounded amazing...mind blowing...something that would be overly hard to discribe. But very awe inspiring.
Maz almost passed out in the shower this afternoon. The whole faint feeling, a ringing head and muffled sound of the shower (to the point of not hearing the water running). Lucky Russell was around to keep an eye on her.
Divine Brown Deluxe: Chocolate Cookies & Fudge. There is a God when it comes to ice cream. It is sooooo good.
Also while we are at it...
"75 days till Haydn gets back, 75 days till he returns, wake up one day and fuck around, 74 days till Haydn returns"
Music stores around the country were swamped yesterday by fans buying Michael Jackson albums and videos after his sudden death. Cameron Brewer, head of the Newmarket Business Association, said music retailers were urgently requesting more stock. "Music retailers told me that people were literally grabbing what they could. It seems that Thriller and his Greatest Hits went out the door first, followed by literally anything with Michael Jackson's name on it," Mr Brewer said.
At lunch time in Auckland City, office workers and university students of all ages queued outside the Real Groovy store on Queen St. One man bought $550 worth of Michael Jackson music in vinyl. (wonder if it was Mr Collings...hmmmm?)
Westpac, which last month mistakenly transferred $10 million into the account of a Rotorua businessman who is still on the run, has made another big-figure error. Hamilton computer firm Elite Business Systems received a Westpac fax telling them $4.3 million had been transferred into its account on behalf of a client paying a bill. Administration manager Graeme Richer couldn't believe his eyes because the sum owed was just $43,000. (I am so with the wrong bank)
Rock musician Chris Knox has been released from hospital two weeks after suffering a stroke. Knox, 56, was taken to Auckland Hospital after collapsing at his home on June 11. According to a blog, updated by friend Roy Martyn, Knox was allowed to return home this week "apparently in good spirits", The Dominion Post reported. It is understood that he has not been able to speak, although he has been writing in a journal.
The Turangi and Taupo region was shaken by two earthquakes overnight. The first, at 1.01am, had a magnitude of 4.3 and was centred 10km north-west of Turangi at a depth of 3km. The second, at 5.21am, was centred in the same area at a depth of 5km and measured 4.4.
Criminal investigations in Auckland are now codenamed after shades of paint because of fears that an off-colour label could cause offence. Detective Inspector Scott Beard has created a list of codenames for police operations from a Resene paints colour chart. Recent examples include Operation Anakiwa - a shade of blue - in which police laid charges against Glenn Mills, 40, who allegedly deliberately infected sexual partners with HIV.
P Money just Twittered the following: "Damn MJ is killin it on iTunes; 4 songs in the Top 10 singles, 7 albums in the Top 10, 14 videos in top 15!!"Customs officers yesterday destroyed about $9 million worth of drugs and the chemicals used to make them. About 180kg of Contac NT, a form of pseudoephedrine that is used in the manufacture of P, was encased in concrete and buried in a secret location. It is part of 311kg of drugs products seized by Customs this year. The chemicals were poured into steel drums where they were mixed with concrete and left to set before being placed into deep burial sites that are lined and sealed to prevent leakage. Acting investigations manager Bruce Berry said Customs expected to have seized 1000kg of the chemicals by the end of the year.
The rising number of patients who weigh more than 150kg has forced St John to kit out New Zealand's first emergency ambulance for the severely obese.
Until now, these people have sometimes had to be dragged across the floor before being manhandled into a standard ambulance and strapped down on a mattress on the floor, after the vehicle's two stretchers have been removed. All this takes time, which is scarce in medical emergencies. It is unsafe for both patients and ambulance officers, says St John's Auckland patient transfer manager, Simon Bird, who notes the increasing rate of officers having back problems as the rate of obesity rises.
New Zealand's adult obesity rate has doubled in 30 years: more than a quarter are obese now, and around 3 per cent - more than 60,000 adults - are classified severely obese.
It was to be the comeback of the young century: Michael Jackson using the "This is it" tour to retake his throne as King of Pop, lord of the dance and darling of the masses. What grander stage than London for this late career magic? Jackson's much hyped revival was to be a marathon, 50-gig tour that gave him a shot at redemption - not to mention repairing his tarnished image, lifting him out of debt and making millions for promoters. Eager fans spent more than US$90 ($141.75) million on tickets despite widespread doubts about the pop icon's stamina.
Now the star is dead - and one of the city's biggest arenas has 50 open nights. London, the city that was to be Jackson's launch pad back to glory, has become a symbol of the wreckage of his life.
and if you are interested, one of Michael Jackson's final interviews.
