Day Eighteen of being Aflickionless...

Maz has been on set all day today, so is pretty out of touch with what is happening in the world. And tomorrow will be no different with a 5am start. Must say Spartacus is pretty easy on the eyes too...woot...ah my job is so hard.

Interesting thing Maz saw on the way to set this morning. As you know the Sky Tower is normally lit up one colour, but at the moment the top section is blue and changes to yellow.
They're a little more glamorous than the energy-efficient lightbulb the Government wanted you to put in your kitchen. But new, brighter lights on Auckland's tallest building promise to deliver a similar energy-saving benefit. The lightbulbs used to light up the Sky Tower in themed colours for special events have been replaced by 26 electronic lights on seven levels spaced around the tower. The new lights - which can be changed at the press of a button to display a theoretically infinite array of colours - will use about a third of the electricity the old lights used.

The past six weeks have been pretty tough for self-confessed oddball Ian Brackenbury Channell - aka the Wizard of New Zealand. After learning he was to be awarded a Queen's Service Medal for services to the community, the man famous for his theories on postmodern cosmology was told to shut up.

Hip-hop star Che Fu had a little chuckle when he saw the letter from the Governor-General and Prime Minister John Key addressed to "Mr Fu". The award-winning musician was thrilled to read he was being made a Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit - but was on the phone quickly to ask if he could have the honour in his real name, Che Kuo Eruera Ness.

Three earthquakes shook the central North Island overnight. All three quakes were centred 10km south-west of Turangi, GNS Science reported.
The first, measuring 3.2 on the Richter scale, struck at a depth of 4km, at 11.08pm yesterday. Nearly 50 minutes later, a magnitude 3.4 quake, also centred at a depth of 4km, hit at 11.54pm. A third quake, centred at a depth of 6km and measuring 3.8, struck at 2.31am today. The quakes were reported to have been felt in the southern Taupo region .

What began like a bad joke about two Irishmen walking into a bar ended with the pair missing their flight home and being arrested for graffiting pub property - with their names and details. The two 27-year-old men were arrested on Saturday morning for allegedly defacing Queenstown's Pog Mahones Irish Bar with a permanent marker on Friday night.

NEW MOON
OMG check it out, so much cooler than Twilight, and you ARE going to have to give back your "man card" after this one...
